About the Role
• Work in the elements (Winter and Summer) for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 28 days straight.
• Hold Helper’s accountable to ensure they are completing their tasks.
• Manage the drill site location and be responsible for all aspects of the drill site. (IE. cleanliness, production, and maintenance of all equipment)
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Helper’s to ensure everything needed to maintain the drilling operations is done correctly and efficiently. Some of these tasks are, but not limited to:
o Emptying core from the core tubes
o Tightening new drill rod on water swivel
o Putting over shot down the hole to retrieve the full core tube
o Retrieve full core tube when pulled out of the hole and place on the ground.
o Put empty core tube down the hole
o Place drive rod back on and tighten by hand
o Grease back end before it ready to use
o Pop lock ball into position prior to being pumped down the hole
o Hang all tools back into its rightful position
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized working environment.
• Conduct inspections of the drill rig before the start of shift and document it on the Site Docs inspection forms. Additionally, inspecting the drill rig throughout the shift.
• Ensure that all tools are maintained and kept clean at all times. IE. Pipe wrenches, tube wrenches, misc. tools etc.
• Drill pad kept clean and organized at all times, access ways kept clear and emergency preparedness equipment kept readily available.
• Drain and roll hose line when not in use and tie wire it together to keep neat.
• Upon job completion and shut down of hole, all equipment, tools, hose line, rods and wood planking / blocking must be immediately picked up and removed from the set up.
• Keep an inventory of tools and equipment on your drill and ensure items are stocked.
• Maintain all pick-up trucks inside and outside and keep all garbage out of them.
• Keep your camp room or apartment room clean and hygienic. No booze or drugs (legal or illegal are permitted in any camp room or work site.
Requirements
Be physically fit and have good physical dexterity.
Prefer working outdoors.
Enjoy travel or at least adapt to a nomadic lifestyle.
Be compatible with other people in a small team environment.
Be adaptive to living without the normal comforts of home.
Be able to work for long hours under prevailing climatic conditions.
Good communication and mathematical skills.
Preferably, have a mechanical background and aptitude, with skills in operating and maintaining machinery.
